Physicians comprise more than 40 percent of AMIA’s membership. Their expertise is represented in research and practice and throughout the leadership of AMIA. Physicians have multiple member-only communities and working groups focused on topic-specific interests, such as Implementation, Clinical Decision Support and Primary Care Informatics.
Physicians in AMIA is the largest members-only group open to CIS certified physicians and other clinical informatics physician. Since 2013 more than 2000 physicians have become certified in the clinical informatics subspecialty. The physician community includes AMIA Clinical Informatics Fellows (ACIF), a vibrant group a regular podcast.

AMIA is the professional home for all physician informaticians. AMIA is the home for 1000+ AMIA member physicians Certified in the Medical Subspecialty of Clinical Informatics.
AMIA Clinical Informatics Fellows (ACIF) is the home within AMIA for Clinical Informatics Fellows nationwide. ACIF endeavors to provide all Clinical Informatics fellows with the necessary support and resources to cultivate success and leadership.
The CDS Working Group provides a forum for AMIA members to share their interests, ideas, and experiences, and helps organize related activities at AMIA meetings.
Becoming board-certified in clinical informatics sets the highest bar for those who are experts in the subspecialty. It provides the opportunity to demonstrate your knowledge applying informatics to deliver improved healthcare services.
As the Official eJournal of AMIA and IMIA, the online journal ACI aims to establish a platform that allows sharing knowledge between clinical medicine and health IT specialists as well as bridging gaps between visionary design and successful and pragmatic deployment.
