The nursing informatics community within AMIA offers numerous opportunities for leadership, networking, collaboration, conference presentations, certification and recognition as a nurse informatician. Joining AMIA and the Nursing Informatics working group connects you with more than 400 nurse informaticians.
Nursing Informatics is the "science and practice (that) integrates nursing, its information and knowledge, with information and communication technologies to promote the health of people, families, and communities worldwide." (adapted from IMIA Special Interest Group on Nursing Informatics 2009). The application of nursing informatics knowledge is empowering for all healthcare practitioners in achieving patient centered care.
Innovators in Nursing Informatics
The Nursing Informatics Working Group set out to document and preserve the history of nursing informatics. In doing so, they captured stories of innovators in nursing informatics and shared the evolution of informatics as a specialty in nursing.
Fellows of AMIA (FAMIA)
FAMIA recognizes the contributions and professional accomplishments of AMIA members who apply informatics skills and knowledge to their practice – be that in a clinical setting, a public or population health capacity, or as a clinical researcher.
Alliance for Nursing Informatics
AMIA is one of many collaboration organizations representing a unified voice for nursing informatics.
ANI represents thousands of nurses and brings together over 30 nursing informatics groups that function separately at local, regional, national and international levels.
