AMIA’s Empowerment, Engagement, and Representation (E2R) initiatives are dedicated to advancing inclusivity and collaboration within the organization and the  informatics community. E2R reflects our commitment to fostering a professional environment where diversity is welcomed, people are respected, opportunities are accessible, and every individual feels a genuine sense of belonging.

Our commitment is strategic and comes from our organizational values—scientific integrity, impact, and inclusivity and collaboration. The efforts of the Empowerment, Engagement and Representation and Women in AMIA Committees ensure that all voices, including those from underrepresented communities, are heard and valued.

These principles guide our efforts to build a future where informatics research, education, and practice are accessible and representative of the full spectrum of human experience.

E2R is more than a name—it’s a strategic evolution. In response to shifting national policies and institutional challenges, AMIA conducted a legal and reputational audit of our DEI programming. The result: a reaffirmation of our mission and a reimagining of our approach. Empowerment, Engagement, and Representation now define our path forward, ensuring that our community remains connected, protected, and inspired.

We invite all members to take part in this work. Support Empowerment, Engagement and Representation initiatives. Mentor emerging professionals. Advocate for policies that reflect our shared values.

Explore our initiatives, resources, and opportunities to get involved. Whether you're a student, faculty member, researcher, or practitioner, E2R invites you to be part of a , we can build a future where informatics serves everyone equitably, ethically, and inclusively.

AMIA’s efforts are aligned with AMIA's strategic plan and values inclusivity and collaboration.
