The Virginia K. Saba Informatics Award recognizes a distinguished career with significant impact permeating the care of patients and the discipline of nursing. The Virginia K. Saba Informatics Award recipient will demonstrate the use of informatics to transform patient care; visionary leadership; goal impact; enduring contribution to professional practice, education, administration, research, and/or health policy; and a commitment to AMIA demonstrated through membership. The recipient embodies the principles and practices of Virginia K. Saba and has a substantial record of contribution to the field of Nursing Informatics.

The selection of the recipient will be conducted by the Signature Award Committee, with contribution and voting privilege from the AMIA NIWG Awards Committee Chairperson and the immediate AMIA NIWG Past-Chairperson.  Selection determined from nominees by Signature Award Committee including NIWG vote as per above with representative participation in discussion and decisions about all Saba Award nominees.

Criteria

  • Focus in Nursing Informatics.
  • Characteristics and achievements should include visionary leadership; global impact; and enduring contribution to nursing professional practice, education, administration, research, and/or health policy.
  • AMIA membership and ongoing commitment to the organization.
