Transforming Healthcare and Biomedicine for a Sustainable Future

The theme of AMIA 2023 Annual Symposium is Transforming Healthcare and Biomedicine for a Sustainable Future. Now, more than ever, healthcare and biomedicine face significant challenges in a number of areas, including staffing, knowledge translation, finances, and supply chain. Today’s challenges underscore the need for innovations in the field of informatics that not only transform healthcare and biomedicine but do so sustainably. As agents of change and transformation, we as informaticians must ensure our work helps to bring about a more equitable and sustainable future.

The AMIA Annual Symposium is the world’s premier meeting for the research and practice of biomedical and health informatics building on more than 45 years of sharing research and insights for leveraging health information and cutting-edge technologies to improve human health.

The Annual Symposium includes:

  • More than 600 cutting-edge presentations spanning all domains of informatics: translational bioinformatics, clinical research informatics, clinical informatics, consumer health informatics and public health informatics.
  • The latest in biomedical and health informatics research including everything from data privacy and clinical decision support tools to phenotyping and natural language processing.
  • Opportunities to network with more than 2000 informatics professionals from students and early career to leaders of the profession.
  • Career development opportunities such as mentoring events and CV review.
  • Foundational contributions to informatics methods, reports on the application of informatics in the context of health, and discussions of policy topics influenced or impacted by informatics.
