The 2022-2023 Call for Volunteers is now closed.

To strengthen the informatics field, we’re enhancing the ability of AMIA to serve as the leading voice for informatics professionals. By growing the capacity of the organization and expanding membership, every member will be supported with a robust organization that is nimble in serving evolving needs.

Now is the time for AMIA members to share their passion for and expertise in informatics. Volunteer to serve on a committee for the 2022-2023 term. Committee participation offers members the opportunity to contribute fresh, innovative ideas that grow AMIA and help expand its services. Members who give their time, talent and energy are rewarded with a wealth of high-impact personal relationships, strengthened leadership skills, and the capacity to bring positive change to AMIA.

We are looking for thoughtful, forward-thinking individuals with diverse experience. We invite you to get involved—connect, learn, grow and lead—and bring on the next era in informatics.

2022-2023 Call for Committee Volunteers

AMIA’s volunteer structure is organized around policies and practices that promote ethics and transparency. Our volunteer structure is organized to take advantage of the expertise and energies of our members and to promote opportunities for deeper membership engagement. Members volunteer to share their passion and expertise in informatics and advance the profession by doing so.

The volunteer self-nomination process remains open through December 3, 2021.


AMIA committee members must be a member of AMIA in good standing. Committee members have the overall responsibility for supporting the AMIA Board of Directors and carrying out the committee charges as set forth by the Board. Specific composition, terms, roles and responsibilities are maintained in AMIA’s Committee Manual.


Committee members are expected to:

  • Support the mission of the organization
  • Participate in committee meetings (frequency varies by group)
  • Keep committee materials and conversations confidential
  • Respond timely to organizational requests
  • Support the majority decision ·
  • Be familiar with AMIA’s Conflict of Interest Policy and AMIA’s Policy Regarding Speaking on Behalf of or Representing the Organization and Volunteer Reimbursement Policy

Committee participation is limited and not all volunteers are able to serve on a committee at the same time. We are looking for members that are diverse in age, race, ethnicity, gender, ability, political beliefs, and sexual orientation.

There are numerous other committees that serve AMIA strategic initiatives, meetings and special events with varying terms that are not included below, so be sure to look for additional special calls for volunteers throughout the year.

The selection process will occur in mid-December with confirmations scheduled for early January. When the process is complete, we will contact you. In the meantime, questions about the selection process or duties of each committee may be directed to Nina Richards.
