After two decades developing natural language processing tools and infrastructure, Wendy Chapman recognized her research was unlikely to have a significant impact on clinical care and shifted her focus, relocating to Australia. In this talk, she will discuss key roadblocks to implementing health technologies, including artificial intelligence and natural language processing, and explain how she approaches informatics and digital innovation through a systems-thinking lens. She will also describe the specific challenges she has addressed in Melbourne and the sociotechnical infrastructure she has been developing.
