Dr. Shin shares how her background in emergency and mental health nursing led to research focused on closing gaps in suicide prevention care, including her work implementing an app-based safety planning intervention in emergency departments. The conversation examines how learning health systems use continuous cycles of data, evidence, and practice to improve care, and how AI could accelerate that learning. Dr. Shin also explains why successful implementation requires more than effective technology, highlighting the importance of governance, leadership, human factors, and team competencies.
