Public Biography
Dr. Roosevelt De Los Santos is a distinguished digital health executive, board-certified pediatrician, and clinical informaticist with over fifteen years of progressive leadership driving healthcare delivery and transformation. He currently serves as Regional Medical Director of Health Informatics at Trinity Health. In this role, he leads strategic digital health initiatives across the integrated delivery network, focusing on Enterprise Electronic Health Record optimization and the governance, adoption, and scaling of emerging clinical and generative AI tools.
A recognized national leader in the informatics community, Dr. De Los Santos has a deep commitment to professional service and advocacy. His extensive service history within the American Medical Informatics Association includes serving as Secretary and Treasurer for the FAMIA Executive Board and Secretary for the Physicians in AMIA Board. He has served as the Chair of the HIMSS Physician Committee and as a Board Member of the South Florida HIMSS Chapter, among other volunteer leadership roles. Coming from the practical experience pathway to the FAMIA Fellowship, he is a passionate advocate for workforce development, mentoring emerging leaders through and shaping policies through advocacy efforts that enhance the value of applied informatics.
Dr. De Los Santos’s expertise seamlessly spans clinical operations, corporate healthcare governance, and public policy. As past Advocacy Co-Chair for the HIMSS South Florida Chapter and a frequent lead advocate at the Florida Capitol during Health IT Advocacy Days, he bridges the gap between frontline clinical realities, health system C-suites, and legislative bodies. His contributions to the field have earned him prominent recognition, including the HIMSS AMDIS Changemaker Award. He is also a regular industry panelist and thought leader, authoring impactful national whitepapers on patient centered digital health ecosystems and on the value of clinical informaticists.
Academically, Dr. De Los Santos holds a diverse and rigorous foundation. He earned his Doctor of Medicine from the Instituto Tecnológico de Santo Domingo and completed a residency in General Pediatrics at Nickalus Children’s Hospital. This is followed by a Master of Business Administration in Healthcare Management from the University of Florida and a Master of Science in Population Health Management from Thomas Jefferson University. He holds elite professional fellowships across multiple disciplines, including Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics, Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives, and Fellow of the American Medical Informatics Association. He is a Certified Healthcare CIO. Based in South Florida, Dr. De Los Santos continues to shape the future of medicine through the practice of clinical informatics and its application to healthcare delivery.
