Dr. Gabriela Mustata Wilson is an internationally recognized leader in health informatics, celebrated for transforming cutting-edge research into practical solutions that fortify health systems and foster resilient communities. With a rare multidisciplinary background spanning chemical engineering, pharmacoinformatics, and public health, she drives integrative innovations at the nexus of public and ecological health.

Dr. Wilson serves as Director of the Louisiana Center for Health Innovation (LCHI) and Professor in the College of Nursing and Health Sciences at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, where she holds both the Dr. J. Robert Rivet Endowed Chair and the Acadian Ambulance Service/BORSF Eminent Scholar Endowed Chair in Health Informatics.

A strategic voice in shaping the future of health informatics, Dr. Wilson plays influential roles within the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) and the American Medical Informatics Association (AMIA®). As Co-Chair of the HIMSS TIGER (Technology Informatics Guiding Education Reform) Community and Past Chair of the AMIA Pharmacoinformatics Workgroup, she has led transformative global initiatives that advance education, research, and innovation.

Her contributions have earned widespread recognition, including:

The PI Working group is comprised of AMIA members who are interested in the intersection of informatics, technology and medication management. It is our intention to initiate innovation and patient safety at the nexus of informatics, technology, and medication management for efficient, beneficial patient health care.
