As artificial intelligence evolves in health care, strategic investment in its research and development is essential to ensure safe and effective application. The National Library of Medicine, a pioneer in AI since the 1960s, continues to advance the field through intramural and extramural research, as well as strategic investments in products and services that foster innovation.
This webinar will cover the federal AI policy landscape and provide an overview of NLM’s research and development activities. Highlighting this work, Dr. Sameer Antani, a principal investigator at NLM, will discuss his research on using medical imaging and clinical data for multimodal machine learning and AI algorithms. His focus is on developing reliable, reproducible and interpretable prediction models with clinical applications.
Through sustained research, development and innovation, NLM continues to lead efforts to advance AI to improve health while ensuring that emerging technologies are rigorously developed and responsibly applied in health care.
