Under the overall theme of “Informatics: From Data to Knowledge to Action” the Annual Symposium will have topics across the spectrum from deciphering the underpinning phenomena of disease, to managing information and communications for improving patient care, to tracking the health of populations.

The AMIA 2019 Health Informatics Policy Forum will consider the future of Clinical Decision Support in an Era of Big Data & Machine Learning. As part of a change to our annual Policy Invitational, this meeting is open to all AMIA members and nonmembers

Fellows of the College were invited to participate in the 2021 ACMI Virtual Winter Program. This year’s winter meeting consisted of presentations and discussions around the findings and recommendations from the recently convened 25 By 5: Symposium to Reduce Documentation Burden on U.S. Clinicians by 75% by 2025, as well as reflections on the past and present of biomedical informatics and its implications for the field provided by our inaugural Distinguished Fellows. Because the 25 By 5 Symposium evolved from the 2020 Winter Symposium topic of documentation burden, it was decided that it was important for ACMI Members to be one of the first groups to be presented with the findings and recommendations of the symposium. We are creating a highly participatory meeting with lots of room for discussion and questions. Don’t miss this lively meeting of real-time importance.

AMIA’s Virtual Clinical Informatics Conference – CIC – is making a mark on healthcare. CIC is where clinician informaticists of all disciplines –physicians, nurses, physician assistants, technicians, HIT developers, data analysts, C-suite executives, and more – share their innovations in bringing the technology advances out of the lab and into the patient room. Our collective goal is to leverage technology in new ways, to advance healthcare delivery, access and outcomes.

The AMIA 2021 Virtual Informatics Summit is the ideal venue to learn about best practices, new methodologies and shared challenges in four main areas: Translational Bioinformatics, Clinical Research Informatics, Implementation Informatics, and Data Science. 

Machine learning methods have been applied to clinical data from electronic health records (EHRs), primarily in the inpatient and intensive-care settings. We applied machine-learning techniques to support outpatient personalized management of three common chronic diseases by creating precision cohorts of similar patients in similar clinical situations
