AMIA 2026 First Look for Students Program
Eligibility
First Look participants must be at least at the sophomore level at an undergraduate institution with a S.T.E.M.-focused program at an institution in the Dallas, TX area.
There are limited spots and so please apply early. The program is open to undergraduate and graduate students interested in informatics but are not currently enrolled in an informatics program.
Students enrolled in informatics adjacent fields are strongly encouraged to apply including nursing, pharmacy, public health, computer science, computer engineering, and data science.
Application and selection for participation in the AMIA First Look for Students Program is inclusive and open to all.
WIA and E2R Collaborate
The Women in AMIA and the Empowerment, Engagement and Representation Committees joined forces to expand and strengthen the AMIA First Look Program by making First Look open to all, including underrepresented groups and communities.

Objectives
The AMIA First Look program aims to:
- Provide undergraduate and graduate students with an interest in informatics and/or S.T.E.M. an opportunity to learn about the field of informatics by attending key symposium events on November 8,
- Introduce and engage students in informatics through assigned mentored guides and both formal and informal networking receptions; and
- Equip students with resources for internship and post-graduate career “next-steps” in informatics by networking and making connections with industry and educational professionals in the exhibit hall.
