Mentoring at the 2025 Annual Symposium

E2R Mentoring Circles

Monday, November 17 | 8:00 - 9:30 pm
Open to mentees from diverse perspectives and all career stages

The AMIA Empowerment, Engagement, and Representation (E2R) Subcommittee on Retention and Advancement is hosting its 4th career mentoring event, now called Mentoring Circles: Connect & Cultivate.

We have a new name, but the same goal, to provide an inclusive mentoring experience that cultivates timely discussion topics and connects individuals in career mentoring conversations within a small group setting. Mentoring Circles will begin with a networking activity followed by group conversations.

Each mentee selects two topics of interest and rotates to each of those circles. Each circle is composed of one to two mentor(s) and six mentees at a table.

While we’ll have some discussion questions prepared, this is also a unique opportunity to meet others with similar interests and bring your own questions and learn from each other.

ACMI Speed Networking Mixer

Tuesday, November 18 | 5:30-7:00 p.m.
Open to all Students, Young Professionals, and Fellows of ACMI.

The American College of Medical Informatics (ACMI) is a community of nationally recognized informatics leaders—innovators, researchers, educators, and practitioners—who have made significant, sustained contributions to biomedical and health informatics. Their expertise has shaped the field and influenced the future of healthcare.

At the ACMI Speed Networking Mixer, you’ll have a unique opportunity to meet and interact with these distinguished leaders in a dynamic, small-group setting. Last year, this event was packed with students and Fellows, and feedback was overwhelmingly positive—attendees found it to be a fun, welcoming, and incredibly valuable experience.

You’ll rotate through discussion tables forging new connections with ACMI Fellows and your peers, building your professional network while engaging in conversations about career journeys, inspiring projects, and the latest innovations in informatics.

This networking event is perfect for students and young professionals eager to:

  • Build meaningful professional relationships
  • Get advice from leading experts
  • Explore opportunities in clinical and biomedical informatics
