Build your own CDS with our no-code rules engine

May 24, 2023 | 12:30 p.m. - 1:30 p.m.

Healthcare data is exponentially growing and coming from an increasing number of sources — EHRs, personal devices, pharmacies, social and community data, genomic databases, and much more. In today’s healthcare environment, trying to manage and execute CDS logic on so many disparate data sources can lead to data reconciliation problems, deployment and administrative issues, alert fatigue, and a data deluge for providers, resulting in increased clinician burden and burnout.

InterSystems has created the Healthcare Action Engine, a FHIR-based solution empowering institutions to develop and run their own CDS rules across multiple data sources and multiple health IT environments. The no-code rule editor enables clinical informaticians and analysts to build complex and reusable knowledge artifacts easily. The Healthcare Action Engine can execute your choice of CDS rules on aggregated and normalized data within InterSystems’ technology, or it can be used to deploy and execute rules with a wide range of CDS Hooks-compatible EHRs and health IT applications.

High-Performing CDS: Leveraging Patient-Context, Targeted Alerts, and Analytics

May 24, 2023 | 12:30 p.m. - 1:30 p.m.

Clinical decision support (CDS) alerts are a critical component of a well-functioning system and can play a significant role in patient safety. However, some of these alerts may be inappropriate in a particular care scenario, ineffective, or nonspecific. Clinicians can become desensitized to alerts and may ignore important information. How can organizations maximize the use of technology to create and promote effective, targeted, relevant, and routinely updated alerts?

Please join our conversation about alert fatigue reduction strategies, including monitoring, analysis, and optimization of CDS. We will share progress deploying contextualized CDS that is patient and population-informed for more precise and personalized decision support.

We would like to hear your insights on relevant clinical scenarios and how you leverage analytics to further optimize CDS.

Transforming Oncology Clinical Research using Clinical Natural Language Processing

May 25,2023 | 12:00 p.m. - 1:00 p.m.

Historically, the use of Electronic Health Record (EHR) data for clinical research has been hindered by the lack of structural and semantic standardization, the presence of important data elements buried in free-text notes, and inconsistent datasets. In this roundtable, we will dissect the recent advances to overcome these challenges and focus on an ensemble approach adopted by Triomics.
