Call for Participation for the ACMI 2026 Retreat

Current plans for the Retreat include four meeting sessions on Friday and Saturday, each devoted to one or more of these topics, and a working session on Sunday to organize and plan deliverables and follow-up activities. Each of the four meeting sessions will have two keynote/framing presentations, about 15 minutes each with questions, followed by 90 minutes of general discussion.

We invite ACMI members to submit a proposal to deliver one or more of these short keynote presentations. Within your proposal, briefly describe the specific focus and key points for your proposed talk, and also describe your relevant experiences with industry and/or the academic-industry interface.

Submissions

Please complete a brief proposal prior to the Annual Symposium so that the Scientific Program Committee can conduct initial review and selection at a face-to-face meeting in Atlanta.

Deadline: Nov. 17, 2025

Submit a proposal

All participants at the ACMI Retreat will have status as official Discussants and members of a workgroup helping to plan the meeting deliverables. If needed for travel approval or other purposes, ACMI can provide a letter attesting to your status.

Separately, we will provide a format for new ACMI fellows to describe and interactively discuss their work at the Retreat.

Topics

Preliminary topics may include:

  • understanding academic/industry priorities, procedures, and needs – perception and reality
  • how do academic informatics and the health IT industry work together to help the world?

  • how academic informatics training can best serve students and fellows who might want careers in industry
  • what areas of excellence in the academic informatics community are most valuable for industry and its customers (health systems, health plans, governments, etc.), and how to share them
