In response to proposed OMB regulations and provisions in the President’s FY2027 Budget Request that would restrict or prohibit the use of federal research grants for publication costs, more than 160 scientific and medical societies, including AMIA, urge Congress to preserve publication funding, warning that the proposals would undermine scientific integrity, public access, and U.S. competitiveness.
