NLM RFI: Future Direction of the NLM G13 Grants

AMIA recommends that the National Library of Medicine (NLM) modernize the G13 Grants for Scholarly Works in Biomedicine and Health program to better support biomedical and health informatics scholarship, including systematic reviews, scoping reviews, evidence maps, living resources, and digital knowledge products. AMIA urges NLM to prioritize topics such as trustworthy AI, interoperability, data quality, clinical decision support, patient usability, safety, workforce impact, and digital health infrastructure. AMIA also recommends recognizing gray literature, expanding eligible scholarly formats beyond books, improving dissemination through open and discoverable resources, and assessing impact beyond traditional publication metrics.
