AMIA responded to the NIH National Library of Medicine's Request for Information on future biomedical informatics research priorities. The organization addressed three key areas:

(A) Vision for the Future, highlighting unmet needs in multi-modal data integration, temporal health modeling, and precision prevention; key challenges in causal inference, real-time adaptive learning, and computational equity; plus foundational tools including universal health data commons and explainable AI.

(B) Strategic Focus Areas covers underexplored research gaps like computational health equity and environmental health informatics, plus evolution of traditional informatics categories.

(C) Additional Comments emphasizes regulatory science, foundation models for healthcare, workforce development, and open science infrastructure needs.
