AMIA Joins in Congressional Action for Medicare Telehealth Extension

AMIA joined over 350 healthcare organizations and stakeholders sent a letter to Congressional leaders on August 11, 2025, urging extension of Medicare telehealth services set to expire in September. The coalition requests permanent access or, at minimum, a two-year extension to ensure continuity of care for Medicare beneficiaries. They emphasize telehealth's critical role for patients with chronic conditions, immune system vulnerabilities, and mobility barriers, while highlighting benefits including workforce strengthening, rural healthcare access, and avoiding care disruptions for millions of patients.
