AMIA presents a number of awards in recognition of special accomplishment in the field of informatics. There are three types of AMIA awards: Signature Awards, Leadership Awards, and Research Awards. Awards are presented in special ceremonies at AMIA’s meetings and at special events.

Signature Award

The AMIA Signature Awards program provides an opportunity for AMIA members at different stages of their career to be recognized for significant contributions or achievements in informatics.

Research Awards

AMIA provides a series of research awards that represent the best in submitted research and include AMIA's annual conference awards, distinguished paper and poster awards, and other named working group sponsored awards.

Leadership Awards

Leadership awards are given by the Chair of the Board and the President and CEO for outstanding volunteer leadership and service to the association.

Working Group Awards

AMIA Working Groups issue several research awards presented at AMIA annual meetings. Working group awards are sponsored by a Working Group and approved by the AMIA Executive Committee and Board of Directors.

Leadership and Education Awards Donation (LEAD) Fund

The LEAD Fund gives members the opportunity to “pay it forward” and support philanthropic awards, grants, and recognition programs. Via the AMIA LEAD Fund, AMIA is building the foundation for investing in the future generation of diverse and high-impact leaders who will ensure the benefit of biomedical and health informatics innovation and practice is realized at a national and international level.
