AMIA Comments on NIH Draft Public Access Policy RFI
AMIA responded to the National Institutes of Health’s (NIH) latest request for information (RFI) regarding its draft Public Access Policy. A follow up from last year’s RFI, AMIA reiterated comments on the proposed reduction of the 12-month embargo period and potentially limiting NIH-funded researchers' choice to journals willing to accept NIH’s proposed rule. AMIA is also curious how NIH, through monitoring publication fees and policies, will redress if publication fees escalate unreasonably and how that would be determined.
