In this episode, podcast guest Shefali Haldar, PhD, Director of Real-World Evidence Platforms at Merck & Co., shares thoughtful insights into her career journey from biomedical informatics training to industry. In conversation with Zina Xu, a PhD student at the University of Washington, she reflects on her decision-making process, the importance of following one’s intuition, and the experiences that shaped her professional path.

The Fireside Chat Series is a joint venture between American Medical Informatics Association’s (AMIA) Student Working Group and the Academic Forum. The series features conversations between informatics trainees and their colleagues in different stages of their careers. Together, the participants uncover the many paths into biomedical and health informatics, from first steps and training pivots, career successes and challenges, to networking, mentorship, and lessons learned along the way.
