AMIA is closely tracking the new administration’s policy changes and analyzing the immediate and potential impact on members, the organization, and the informatics and healthcare fields. We recognize that the days since inauguration have been filled with uncertainty, and understand that our members are impacted by federal freezes on scientific meetings, grant panels, communications, training, travel and hiring; and termination of diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives.

While pauses between administrations are predictable, current directives directly impact our members’ research, education, and practice. We recognize the deep concern and uncertainty impacting our members, their organizations, institutions, and ultimately, patients, as changes continue to roll out. AMIA's priorities, including our public policy priorities and principles, are apolitical and our work representing member needs will continue, regardless of which political party is in office. Now is a particularly valuable time to get involved in AMIA’s policy work and to follow our work in the biweekly Washington Download. Consider filling out this form to engage in AMIA’s public comments.

Informatics is essential to health and healthcare because it is collaborative, and collaboration is inherently inclusive. AMIA will continue to build a diverse, inclusive, and sustainable community. The strength of the AMIA member community lies in its diversity of expertise, domain, workplace, career level and human identity.
