AMIA’s Board of Directors is looking for enthusiastic, action-oriented volunteers to join the recently approved AMIA Artificial Intelligence Task Force. The purpose of this task force is to develop strategies and tactics necessary to position AMIA as the preeminent convener, thought leader, and advocate for the innovative and responsible use of artificial intelligence in health and healthcare. As a member of the Artificial Intelligence Task Force, you will provide:
- Strategic Planning: Develop a roadmap for AMIA’s leadership in health and healthcare AI, including clear priorities, measurable outcomes, and milestones.
- Community Convening: Design and help oversee the implementation of new AI-focused convening mechanisms (e.g., thematic tracks, summits, virtual workshops) that engage members across clinical, translational, public health, and consumer informatics.
- Education and Workforce Development: Propose and help oversee training opportunities, including modular courses, micro-certifications, and accessible learning pathways in AI ethics, methods, and applications, serving both AMIA members and external constituencies.
- Policy and Advocacy: Recommend topics and discussion points related to AI and digital health on which AMIA can advocate to federal policymakers.
- Partnerships and Engagement: Identify and foster collaborations with industry, academia, government, and professional organizations to amplify AMIA’s reach and impact.
- Thought Leadership: Produce position statements, white papers, and communications that elevate AMIA as the trusted voice for health and healthcare AI.
This task force is constituted for a period of 36 months and will be led by Genevieve Melton-Meaux, with support from AMIA staff. Task force members are expected to fully participate in bi-monthly meetings, contribute to the development of deliverables outside of scheduled meetings, provide updates to the AMIA Board, uphold confidentiality, and actively contribute with the interests of AMIA in mind.
To serve on the task force, you must be an AMIA member in good standing with a passion for advancing the organization, availability to participate actively in meetings, and flexibility to complete assignments between meetings. Members who are involved across AMIA’s committees, councils, and forums are encouraged to consider this opportunity as we seek to build a diverse team.
