Public Biography
Tamara G. R. Macieira, PhD, RN, FAMIA, is an Assistant Professor at the University of Florida College of Nursing and a nurse informatician passionate about making nursing care more visible in data, research, and technology. Her work sits at the intersection of nursing, informatics, data science, and artificial intelligence, with a focus on transforming nurse-generated electronic health record data into meaningful information that can improve care, support clinical decision-making, and advance research. Originally from Brazil, Dr. Macieira brings an international perspective to her work and maintains active collaborations with colleagues across the United States, Brazil, and Europe. She is especially interested in interoperability, standardized nursing data, AI-enabled documentation, and ensuring that nursing knowledge remains central as healthcare becomes increasingly data- and technology-driven. She is also deeply committed to mentorship and to creating opportunities for students, nurses, and early-career scholars to engage in nursing informatics and data science.
