Public Biography
Susan K. Newbold, PhD, RN, NI-BC, FAAN, LFHIMSS, FAMIA, is a Consultant in Healthcare Informatics based in Franklin, TN., US. Dr. Newbold is a Fellow in AMIA, the American Academy of Nursing, and a Lifetime Fellow in the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (LFHIMSS). Her PhD from the University of Maryland, Baltimore is focused on Nursing Informatics. Dr. Newbold is an active AMIA member since 1992. Currently she is the Co-Chair of the AMIA NIWG History Committee and a member of NIWG Digital Communities. Previously she has held many elected and appointed roles.

Dr. Newbold won the 2023 AMIA Virginia K. Saba Informatics Award which was presented to her in New Orleans at the Annual Symposium November 2023. in September 2025 she will receive the Friends of the National Library of Nursing (FNLM) Nursing Informatics Award.
