Susan J. Grobe, an Associate Professor of Nursing at the University of Texas at Austin, School of Nursing, became involved with informatics with early work on a CA1 authoring system for nursing education, known as Nursing Education Module Authoring System. She published one of the first nursing books on computers in nursing, Computer Primer and Resource Guide for Nurses(1984). She has authored numerous papers on using computers in nursing and on preparing nurses to use computers. She has been active in influencing national nursing organizations to focus on topics related to nursing informatics.
