Dr. Liaw is Professor of General Practice/Family Medicine at the University of New South Wales (UNSW). He has a long record of informatics research, development, and education, publishing widely in Australia and internationally. He is a longstanding AMIA member, active on AMIAĆ­s International and Ethics Committees and several Working Groups. He is a Foundation Fellow of the Australian College of Health Informatics and served as President from 2005-2007. His research focuses on quality of routinely collected EHR data and safety of clinical decision support and patient decision aids, currently as Chief of the UNSW Centre for Research Excellence in eHealth. He is a major force in Health Informatics education and training in Australia and internationally, and is a founding member of the Australian Health Informatics Education Council.
