Dr. Kaushal is the Chair of the Department of Healthcare Policy and Research, Frances and John L. Loeb Professor of Medical Informatics, and Director of the Center for Healthcare Informatics and Policy at Weill Cornell Medical College. She is also the Executive Director of the Health Information Technology Evaluation Collaborative for New York State. Over the last 16 years, Dr. Kaushal has been engaged in research, education, patient care, management, and operational activities, all directed towards optimizing the value of healthcare delivery through the use of health information technology. Dr. Kaushal is an expert in researching the effectiveness, cost-effectiveness, and comparative-effectiveness of novel models of healthcare organization and payment, particularly those supported by health IT, on patient safety, quality, and costs. Her work was foundational in demonstrating that electronic systems can improve the value of care.
