Nicholas Jackson is a PhD student in Biomedical Informatics at Vanderbilt University. His research focuses on identifying and addressing the barriers that limit the effectiveness of artificial intelligence in medicine, including data privacy constraints that limit data-sharing, algorithmic biases that undermine clinical decision-making systems, and the challenges that arise when clinicians and AI systems make decisions together. His dissertation research is funded by an NIH F31 predoctoral fellowship through which he will study privacy-preserving methods to improve machine learning decision support for populations underrepresented in HIV research.
