Public Biography
              Michael X. Cui, MD, MScBMI, MBA, is a physician and healthcare innovator with expertise in clinical informatics, digital health, and health equity. As Assistant Professor at Rush Medical College and Associate Chief Medical Informatics Officer (CMIO) at Rush University System for Health, he leads initiatives in virtual care, population health, and EHR optimization. Dr. Cui founded and serves as the inaugural Medical Director of Rush Primary Virtual First, a virtual-first primary care program that achieved full patient capacity within its first month. He also directs a $1.8 million Robert Wood Johnson Foundation grant to develop a health equity analytics platform in collaboration with Amazon Web Services and community partners.
Dr. Cui has spearheaded numerous projects, including the implementation of the AMA MAP BP program at Rush, creating the first EHR-embedded MAP BP dashboard in the country. His work has improved hypertension control and expanded remote patient monitoring, generating additional revenue for the health system. A champion of health equity, he is a key member of the West Side Health Equity Collaborative (WSHEC), an $83 million initiative addressing healthcare disparities on Chicago’s West Side.
Dr. Cui holds a Doctor of Medicine from the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine, a Master of Science in Biomedical Informatics from the University of Chicago Graham School, and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business. He is board-certified in Internal Medicine and Clinical Informatics and is a member of the American Medical Informatics Association (AMIA) and the American Medical Association (AMA). His research and innovations have been featured in peer-reviewed journals and national conferences, reflecting his commitment to advancing patient care through technology and data-driven solutions.
