Public Biography
Dr. Lynda Hoeksema has a passion for using informatics to improve the health of populations and individuals. She is currently employed by the MITRE Corporation as a Principal for Health Informatics and Quality. She received recognition in July 2022 as an inaugural Diplomate of AMIA (ACHIP) after passing the certification exam and in 2021 was inducted as a Fellow of AMIA (FAMIA). Lynda served prior on the AMIA Board of Directors as the elected student representative (2020-21). She has a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) degree from The Ohio State University (OSU). Informatics was her focus in the Nurse Executive track with her DNP project focusing on defining cognitive informatics competency statements for practicing informatics professionals. Lynda practiced clinically as a Family Nurse Practitioner in ambulatory and hospital settings for almost two decades. She then made a career shift to informatics with completion of a Post-Master's in Applied Health Informatics from Johns Hopkins University and became board certified in Informatics Nursing (ANCC). Lynda has over 12 years of Clinical Informatics experience leading teams and projects in various roles. Dr. Hoeksema has been honored to serve in leadership roles as part of multiple AMIA Board Task Forces and Committees (Governance, Executive Search, Student Engagement), Health Informatics Careers Advisory Council, Health Systems Council, Nursing Informatics Working Group (NIWG), and the 2021 Clinical Informatics Conference Scientific Program Committee (SPC).
