Public Biography
Eleanore Scheer is a PhD candidate and National Science Foundation Research Fellow at the University of Virginia, where she is studying Systems Engineering (School of Engineering and Applied Sciences) under the advisement of Dr. Rupa Valdez. Eleanore received her Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Engineering at the University of Wisconsin-Madison in May 2021. Her graduate research focuses on the intersection of human factors, engineering and health informatics with an interest in improving the quality and accessibility of healthcare for individuals with disabilities and chronic medical conditions. Her work applies community-based participatory approaches to expand the use of universal design and inclusive design practices. Her research invites people with disabilities and chronic illnesses into the design process as equal partners is key to ensuring that biomedical informatics interventions are useful and usable.
