Dr. Sheikh is the leading evaluator of healthcare IT in the UK, and led the primary evaluation of Connecting for Health. He has also produced some of the leading meta-analyses on the benefits of HIT. He is Professor of Primary Care, and Director of the Centre of Population Health Sciences and eHealth Research Group at The University of Edinburgh, and visiting professor at the Universities of London, Birmingham and Maastricht. He has won numerous awards, has over $50 million in research grants, is one of the most cited informaticians. He has advised European governments and the World Health Organization (W.H.O) on biomedical informatics and leads the WHO Safer Primary Care Working Group.
