Public Biography
Dr. Ann Wieben is a board-certified nursing informaticist with a BSN and PhD in Nursing. Her research empowers nurses and other health professionals to access information, build knowledge, and practice with wisdom—ultimately improving the health of individuals, families, and communities. Dr. Wieben uses both quantitative and qualitative methods to explore the design, integration, and evaluation of health care decision support systems, with a current emphasis on health care technology powered by Artificial Intelligence. Her work also investigates how AI-driven technologies influence nurse critical thinking and cognitive load. A passionate advocate for nurse-led innovation, Dr. Wieben is an active member of the American Medical Informatics Association, the Nursing Knowledge Big Data Science Initiative, and the Big Ten Academic Alliance Nursing Informatics Working Group.
