Dr. Turchin is a recognized innovator in both the theory and application of clinical informatics, focusing on studying quality of care of chronic diseases using EMR data. He has published over 60 papers, many in top journals such as Annals of Internal Medicine and Circulation. His career has focused on two closely integrated areas: (1) investigation of processes that impact quality of care of chronic endocrine diseases, and (2) applications of Biomedical Informatics in clinical care and research, with an emphasis on natural language processing. Using these tools, he has created large epidemiologic datasets that include tens of thousands of patients at Partners HealthCare for diabetes, hypertension, and hyperlipidemia.
