Albert M. Lai is an Associate Professor in the Institute for Informatics at Washington University and the Chief Research Information Officer for the Washington University School of Medicine. Dr. Laiís research interests include clinical research informatics, telemedicine to support chronic disease management, and the evaluation and usability of human computer interfaces for electronic health records.

Dr. Lai is a well-known expert in the use of natural language processing techniques for electronic phenotyping and clinical trial eligibility pre-screening. He currently serves as the CRIO for the Washington University in St. Louis School of Medicine. Dr. Lai has also held numerous leadership positions within AMIA.
