AFS05: Integrating Order Placement in an Electronic Health Record into a Patient Simulation Scenario

Abstract: Comfort with Electronic Health Record use and order entry is a vital part of patient care delivery. Incoming residents often have varying levels of familiarity with EHR navigation and order placement. To improve resident comfort with order entry and improve awareness of available clinical decision support tools, we designed a Pediatric sepsis simulation which incorporates order entry into a typical simulation scenario, emphasizing the importance of timeliness and accuracy of orders in patient care.
