Nursing Informatics Innovators: Judy Murphy

For over 25 years Judy Murphy has been a leader and pioneer in the nursing informatics community. She is currently Deputy National Coordinator for Programs & Policy at the Office of the National Coordinator for Health IT in Washington DC. Previously, she was Vice President, Electronic Health Record Systems at Aurora Health Care in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, an integrated delivery network with 15 hospitals and 30,000 employees. She has published and lectured nationally and internationally on system implementation methodologies, automated clinical documentation, and the use of technology to support evidence-based practice. Ms. Murphy was on both the AMIA and HIMSS Board of Directors. She is a Fellow in the American Academy of Nursing, the American College of Medical Informatics and HIMSS. She was recipient of the 2006 HIMSS Nursing Informatics Leadership Award and, in 2007 was named one of the “20 People Who Make Healthcare Better” by HealthLeaders magazine.
