Nursing Informatics Innovators: Joyce E. Sensmeier

Joyce Sensmeier MS, RN-BC, CPHIMS, FHIMSS, FAAN began her career in Nursing Informatics at Palos Community Hospital, guiding the training and implementation of clinical information systems. She currently serves as HIMSS Vice President of Informatics and is responsible for the areas of clinical informatics, standards, interoperability, and privacy and security. Ms. Sensmeier received her Masters degree in Nursing Administration from St. Xavier University, and is a nationally recognized speaker and an author of multiple book chapters, articles and white papers. Sensmeier was recognized in 2010 as a fellow with the American Academy of Nursing, the highest honor in the field of nursing. She is also co-founder of the Alliance for Nursing Informatics, a global collaboration of 28 distinct nursing informatics groups that represents a unified voice for nursing informatics professionals.
