Nursing Informatics Innovators: Jean M. Arnold
Dr. Arnold is Professor Emerita in nursing informatics, Rutgers University College of Nursing with a doctoral degree from Teachers College, Columbia University. She has presented at national and international informatics conferences; was involved with development and implementation of annual Rutgers College of Nursing Computer Conferences and promoted nursing informatics networking among nurses in New Jersey and Florida. Doctor Arnold obtained state and private funding for development and implementation of first computer laboratory for nursing students at Rutgers College of Nursing. Her publications discuss diagnostic reasoning and standardized language. Doctor Arnold’s accomplishments include publication of early book in nursing informatics, “Computer Applications in Nursing Education and Practice”; a patent for Computerized Diagnostic Reasoning Evaluation System; curriculum development which includes first undergraduate and graduate nursing computer courses in New Jersey and online informatics courses for nontraditional programs at Excelsior College and Thomas Edison State College and University of Phoenix.
