Nursing Informatics Innovators: Diane J. Skiba

Dr. Diane J. Skiba is Professor and Coordinator of Healthcare Informatics at the University of Colorado Denver. Since 1980, she has dedicated her career to the development of nursing informatics specialists. She is an international leader committed to the preparation of health care professionals with the necessary knowledge and skills to practice in a technology-rich health care environment. Dr. Skiba is an honorary fellow of the American Academy of Nursing and an honorary member of Sigma Theta Tau. She is an elected fellow of the American College of Medical Informatics. She was the Co-Chair of the Tiger Initiative (2005-2006). She served as a member of the National Advisory Council on Nursing Education and Practice that advises the Secretary of the U.S. DHHS and the U.S. Congress on policy issues related to the Title VIII programs administered by the HRSA Bureau of Health Professions Division of Nursing.
