Columbia University Irving Medical Center is a leading academic medical center in New York City, home to the Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons and the Department of Biomedical Informatics. The Clinical Informatics Fellowship is sponsored by NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital in partnership with Columbia DBMI, giving fellows access to a large, complex health system and one of the country’s historic centers for biomedical informatics education, research, and applied health IT.
The Columbia University/NewYork-Presbyterian Clinical Informatics Fellowship is an ACGME-accredited, two-year fellowship sponsored by NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital and the Columbia University Department of Biomedical Informatics. The program trains physicians from a wide range of specialties to lead work in clinical informatics, health IT, EHR optimization, clinical decision support, analytics, responsible AI, quality and safety, implementation, and health system operations.
Fellows participate in Columbia DBMI didactics, biomedical informatics coursework, seminars, and applied informatics projects across Columbia/NYP. Practice time is allotted so fellows may maintain expertise in their primary clinical specialty, and fellows receive mentorship from DBMI faculty and clinical, technical, analytics, quality, safety, and operational leaders.
Applicants must be board-eligible or board-certified in a primary clinical specialty at the time of appointment. The fellowship begins July 1, with one position available annually. Applications are accepted through ERAS beginning the year prior to appointment.
