This "How-to" video is designed to educate and empower authors, reviewers, Scientific Program Committee leaders, moderators and members to utilize and understand the AMIA Inclusive Language and Context Style Guidelines.

The presenters review the four principles: plurality, precision, transparency and destigmatization and provide examples to help users understand where the guidelines may apply and how to use inclusive language in AMIA scholarship.

The AMIA Inclusive Language and Context Style Guidelines were created by the 2022-2024 term AMIA Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee-Communications Subcommittee. The AMIA Board of Directors subsequently approved the guide as an official guideline for AMIA meetings.
