The Academic Forum Health Informatics Educator of the Year Award recognizes an exceptional AMIA member who has made significant and sustained contributions to health informatics education. This award recognizes individuals who demonstrate excellence in teaching, curriculum innovation, and workforce development, as well as a commitment to mentoring the next generation of informatics professionals.
This award is sponsored by the AMIA Academic Forum and approved by the AMIA Executive Committee and Board of Directors.
Through this award, AMIA celebrates those who elevate the standards of education in this interdisciplinary and dynamic field, and who contribute meaningfully to building a diverse, skilled, and future-ready informatics workforce.
Award recipients are recognized at the AMIA Annual Symposium and invited to share their work at the Academic Forum Virtual Retreat.
Eligibility Criteria
- All current AMIA members are eligible.
- Nominees must have demonstrated excellence and impact in health informatics education.
Evaluation Criteria
Nominees will be evaluated based on:
- Years of service in AMIA and other informatics-related organizations
- Academic Forum membership, service, and contributions
- Contributions to support innovation in education
- Work/service to address gaps in educational needs in the field
- Presentations and publications in health informatics education
- Evidence of work to support student success
- Contributions to diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) in informatics education
