Godwin Okafor, MSHI, RHIA, FAC-P/PM, FAC-COR is Health Informatics Professional with extensive experience in Health Informatics, Information Technology, Business and Functional Analyst, Clinical Application Support, Data Analyst and Go-live Analyst in business and healthcare settings linking information technology, business functions, communications and healthcare to improve the quality and safety of patient care and business operations. He has been involved in multiple hospital EHR/EMR implementation efforts in various roles spanning from the clinical subject matter expert as Program/Project Manager and Consultant; giving input to developers to assisting with new IT development and implementation. Mr. Okafor is currently working with the US Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care Systems in the Washington, DC as a Health Systems Program Manager, managing various Health IT projects gathering Business and Functional IT requirements from both technical and non-technical audiences. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Health Informatics from the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta, Georgia and also has second Bachelor in Business Administration with concentration in Entrepreneurship and Strategic Management from University of North Texas in Denton, Texas, plus Associate in Science in Business from Eastfield College in Dallas, Texas and a Master in Science in Health informatics from the College of St. Scholastica in Duluth, MN. Mr. Okafor is an Adjunct Faculty, Health Information Technology Instructor at Anne Arundel Community College, teaching a full range of courses in Health Information Technology (HIT) including Introduction to Health Information Management, Health Data Management, Health Care Delivery Systems, Computer Applications and Health Data Analysis, Medical Reimbursement Practices, Legal Aspects of Health Information Management, Statistical Applications in Healthcare, Clinical Quality Assessment and Improvement, and Alternative Delivery Systems. Mr. Okafor is constantly seeking creative ways to foster change in not only the way healthcare is delivered, but also to promote high quality patient care and continuous improvement through the use of technology.
