Public Biography
As a formally trained biomedical informatician, I have been conducting research in clinical informatics for over 15 years in both academic and hospital settings. These research activities have primarily focused on exploring and improving use of the EHR to support biomedical discovery and healthcare delivery. Specific interests are in three complementary areas: (1) developing, evaluating, and enhancing clinical systems (e.g., EHR and clinical decision support [CDS] systems), (2) adapting natural language processing and data mining techniques for discovering disease knowledge in electronic health data, and (3) leveraging and enhancing standards to facilitate data integration and semantic interoperability. Historic ACMI Biography
Over 15 years of clinical informatics research in academic and hospital settings focused on leveraging EHRs to support healthcare delivery and biomedical discovery. Highlights: one of the earliest mobile EHRs, Guest Editor JBI special standards issue, EHR mining book chapter, and research on family and social history in EHRs.
